FRANK ZIONS RESERVE

Public BBQ

Frank Zions Reserve presents an interesting paradox: a quiet hideaway sitting surprisingly close to the constant hum of Centenary Drive. The barbecue facilities and picnic tables offer a functional setup for local families, with play equipment that keeps younger children adequately entertained. What makes this spot notable is the unexpected tranquility despite the proximity to busy traffic, creating an urban oasis of sorts. Some areas show their age, with maintenance appearing somewhat sporadic, yet the reserve maintains a certain understated charm. The combination of shade trees and seating areas provides the basics for a family barbecue, even if the presentation lacks polish. Watching cars stream past while cooking sausages creates an oddly meditative atmosphere. This isn't Strathfield's flashiest park, but for nearby residents wanting a quick BBQ without travelling far, it serves its purpose. The play area, though modest, gives kids something to do while adults manage the cooking.
